HTC One Before you all bust a spleen about the HTC One’s mighty tumble from top spot hear us out. Unless you’re desperate to pay slightly less per month, the new HTC One M8 does everything the One does – just a whole lot better. If you’ve got your heart set on HTC’s Sense UI, its Ultrapixel camera, or the sultry premium design you’re better off spending a little bit of extra cash and nabbing yourself the superior One M8. That said, if your budget really can’t stretch that far the HTC One is still an accomplished handset which feels great in the hand and works wonderfully well – although the battery life can be a little hit and miss Quick Verdict The original One still deserves its place in the top ten, but remember that this has one year fewer in terms of HTC promising to keep it upgraded, so if you pick it up now you might not get the newer versions of the software in 12 months time. See the best HTC One deals 7. Sony Xperia Z1 Compact We said that the HTC One Mini is best down sized flagship around, and at its price point it is, but if you’re willing to spend a little extra cash the Sony Xperia Z1 Compact is well worth considering.

Its still a research project in HPs labs, and its not certain whenif everThe Machine will make it to market. But HP is throwing a lot of resources at the problemas many as three-quarters of its labs staff are working on itand its estimates for delivery range from three years to the end of the decade. HP believes the current computing architectureused in smartphones, PCs and just about every other type of computer you can think ofcant keep pace with expanding compute and storage needs. So it embarked on a project about two years ago to rethink computing from the ground up, CTO Martin Fink said at an HP conference in Las Vegas. A key goal for The Machine is to replace the different storage technologies in use today with a single universal memory pool made from memristors, he said. Thats a new type of memory, still at the research stage, that uses ions instead of electrons to represent the 1s and 0s of computer code.

Celkon Campus A35K is India’s cheapest Android 4.4 smartphone

This offers fantastic battery saving as the device oftentimes drains 20% overnight. This feature does not, to my knowledge, exist within the Android ecosystem and is something sorely missing from vanilla Android. Rootability The ZP998 can easily be rooted and a single custom ROM exists for it. The process, while potentially bricking your phone, doesnt take a lot of effort.

Reviewed on: 21 March 13 RRP: 599 inc VAT Rating: The Asus Padfone 2 is an interesting and unique offering. For 599 you get both a phone and a tablet in one although this has its limitations. Good hardware and excellent battery life are the standout features while build quality is a bit of a let-down. We really like the Padfone 2 but if you’re looking to a smartphone and a tablet on the cheap then we suggest Google’s Nexus devices. Reviewed on: 10 June 14 RRP: 229 inc VAT Rating: The Sony Xperia M2 certainly looks like a premium smartphone, but carries a surprisingly mid-range price tag.
